Seasonal Welcome
The violets are blooming in my yard — quietly, tenderly, like a whisper from the earth. Their soft petals find their way into my salads this time of year, adding both fragrance and healing. The herb garden is still rubbing the sleep from its eyes, but the bees are back, and I’ve caught them hovering near the thyme.



The garlic Wolfie and I planted last fall is peeking through now, strong and green. I smile every time I see it. That little clove he pushed into the earth with his tiny fingers has become something alive. All three of our hens are laying daily, and in this moment—when the price of eggs makes them feel almost extravagant—this small abundance feels like such a blessing.
And then there’s the ramps.
This week’s true highlight was taking Wolfie into the woods for a little foraging adventure. It’s ramp season—and what a joy to share that magic with a child. There’s nothing quite like showing them where real food comes from, right from the forest floor.
