Today is Herbalists Day, and I wanted to share what this path means to me—not just as an herbalist, but as someone who has lived in rhythm with plants, people, and the earth for many years.
Being an herbalist is about relationship. With the land. With the body. With the seasons.
It’s about remembering what was once common knowledge: that healing often starts in the kitchen, that plants can teach us if we’re willing to listen, and that tending to a garden is another way of tending to a life.
Herbalists don’t just care for people—we care for pollinators, for soil, for wild spaces, and for the stories carried in seeds and roots. We gather and grow not just to give remedies, but to reconnect others to the wisdom that’s already within them.
To those already walking this path—thank you.
To those just beginning—welcome.
And to everyone who pauses to care, whether it’s a person, a plant, or a patch of earth—you’re part of this tradition, too.
Here’s a simple seasonal gift from my kitchen to yours:
⸻
Spring Tonic Tea
A daily herbal tea to nourish, gently cleanse, and support seasonal transition.
• 1 part nettles – deeply mineral-rich and a gentle energizer
• 1 part dandelion leaf – supports liver health and detox pathways
• ½ part cleavers – supports lymphatic flow, helps with spring sluggishness
• ½ part peppermint – brightens the blend and supports digestion
• Optional: a pinch of orange peel or violet leaf for added joy
Steep 1–2 teaspoons per cup of hot water. Cover and let steep for 10–15 minutes. Strain, sip, and enjoy warm or cool.
With love from my stillroom to yours,
Beth
