Samhain, known to many as All Hallows' Eve or Halloween, marks this enchanting time when it is said that the veil between worlds grow thin. It's a moment when the whispering winds carry the ancient wisdom of generations, and the spirits of our ancestors draw near, eager to share their love, guidance, and blessings. It’s a time to give thanks for the abundance of the season, and magic of our Mother Earth.
Where I live, during Samhain the Earth itself seems to exhale as the last of the vibrant leaves cascade to the ground, creating a mosaic of fiery hues. Days grow shorter, and nights, longer and colder. It's a season that beckons us to turn inward, to seek warmth and solace, and to gather close to the hearth of our hearts.
Connecting with The Unseen…
It's also a time when we're invited to commune with our ancestors, those who've walked this earthly path before us. The thinning of the veils grants us a unique opportunity to use our imagination to bridge the gap between the living and the departed, fostering a profound connection that transcends time and space.
Woven into the tapestry of these autumnal celebrations, the Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos, shines as a radiant gem, illuminating the hearts of those who partake in this joyful Mexican tradition. Much like Samhain, it unfolds during the season of falling leaves and growing shadows, encompassing the first days of November.
